ARTADDICTION Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts
ARTADDICTION: On June 23rd,
the Latin American Community Center’s Prevention Promoters program
held its 3rd Annual ArtAddiction contest at the Delaware Center for
the Contemporary Arts. Ten artists submitted a total of 16 original
works for the competition, and the following were selected as first,
second, and third place finishers receiving cash prizes of $300, $200,
and $100 respectively: Juan Otalvaro: "Addiction & New Start";
Johanna Reinert "At the Edge of Failure" ; and Eduardo Carrera
"Mental Battle". Honorable Mentions were awarded to Pedro
Escarcega’s "Reading as an Option" in the category of Visual
Impact, while Andres Flores won an Honorable Mention in the Content
category for his work "Untitled." To view a slide show of

Hispanic Student Recognition Saturday, May 7 Delaware State University
On behalf of the Latin American community Center we wanted to thank all the nominators and parents who believed that 168 students from all the state of Delaware were worth to be recognized for all their accomplishments in Academics, Athletics, Arts, Community Service and Science, Math and Technology.
The success of this annual program depended greatly on the generous support of our sponsors and valuable team of volunteers and staff, Directed by the chair of the committee Yamil Sanchez. We would especially like to thank Astra Zeneca, Comcast, Noramco, the Rodel Foundation of Delaware, United Way of Delaware, Wilmington Trust, Governor's Advisory Council on Hispanic Affairs and the Manuelita Olson Scholarship Fund for making today’s program possible. CAMINO LATINO: Pasos para Nuestro Futuro 5k Run/Walk Thursday, May 19 at 6:00pm Wilmington Riverfront
The LACC’s first ever Camino Latino 5K Run/Walk was held at the Wilmington Riverfront on Thursday, May 19. Despite the heavy rain, spirits remained bright for an unforgettable first-time event. A special thanks to the LACC’s Board of Directors for organizing the run, and to the event’s sponsors: LACC Board of Directors, The Castro Firm, Inc. The Buccini/Pollin Group, Wilmington Trust Company, Dawn Career Institute, Inc., Shop-Rite, Falling Leaves Media, Mobile Fitness, David P.
