All Stars Drug and Violence Prevention
(Ages 11-14)
|
|
All Stars
targets students ages 11-14 who have not yet had an experience with alcohol,
tobacco, and other drugs.
The
ultimate goal of the program is to delay the onset of a first time experience
with alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, sexual activity and fighting by promoting
idealism, normative beliefs, bonding, personal commitment and parental
attentiveness.
The
program empowers the youth to lead good, healthy and full lives through
interactive activities like group discussions, games, art projects and
one-on-one discussions with each student.

Too Good for Drugs & Violance
(Ages 15-18)
|
|
Too Good for Drugs & Violence High School is a
comprehensive prevention education program for grades 9-12 designed to equip
students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to remain safe
and drug free. The program aims to prevent or delay drug use and violent
behavior, including:
- Attitudes regarding aggressive/violent behaviors.
- Peer norms relating to substance use and violence.
- Peers’ acceptance of violence and alcohol,
tobacco and other drug use.
- Emotional competence and self-efficacy.
- Peer norms relating to substance use and violence.
- Perceptions of the harmful effects of alcohol,
tobacco and other drug use.

Drug & Alcohol Prevention Program (Ages
18-25)
|
|
The mission of the program is to educate young Hispanic adults ages 18 to 25
in the New Castle County area about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.
The program provides:
- D&A
Education Sessions about
addiction and alcoholism, and how it affects the families, the
neighborhoods and the communities. The education sessions are free and
can be provided in either English or Spanish. Sessions can be scheduled
anytime, and anywhere.
- D&A
Free Events where participants are
reminded how to have a pleasant time in an alcohol and drug free
environment.
- Street Outreach
where the D&A Prevention Team goes out,
engages the community and informs them about the services available to
them.
- Referrals
to treatment and Rehabilitation Centers for individuals with substance
abuse problems.
- D&A
Prevention Coalition
consists of members representing community organizations, local
businesses, and leaders in this community, this collaboration promises
community feedback and involvement in the prevention of drug use in the
hill top area.

HIV/AIDS Prevention Program)

HIV/AIDS Prevention Program
The HIV/AIDS Prevention Program offers:
- HIV Counseling and Testing
- Educational Sessions
- Outreach
- Educational Community Events
- A certified bilingual HIV/AIDS educator
The free and confidential HIV
Testing consists of a “Uni-Gold” test
that will provide you with results in less than 20 minutes. Clients that get
tested also learn about the myths and facts of HIV/AIDS and the steps they
can take in their daily lives to prevent this disease.

Lead-based Paint Poisoning Prevention
|
|
Are you at risk of lead-based paint poisoning?
- Do you live in the city of Wilmington?
- Do you live in a home built before 1978?
- Do you have small children living or visiting your
home often?
- Is there a pregnant woman in your household?
If you answered yes to any of
these questions, then you may be at risk. Lead-based paint is a serious
health hazard that can permanently harm children six years of age and
younger, or the baby in a mother’s womb.
