| La Fiesta I & II - Early
Development Center (ages 1 to 5) |
The mission of
La Fiesta I & II - Early Development Center (EDC) is to
offer comprehensive programs that meet the highest academic standards
and prepare Latino children ages 1 to 5 to meet or exceed developmental
goals for their age group.
We provide quality, affordable, neighborhood-based
early childhood education to 86 children of which 95% are low-income,
minority, and reside in an urban community.
Our programs offer a safe, secure and
enriching environment that allows for physical, socio-emotional, cognitive
and language development of our children. We work every day to:
- Increase individual development
through an environment that is creative, stimulating, and nurturing.
- Value the children in our
care and their parents and our employees.
- Earn the trust placed in us
and strive each day to provide the best early childhood education services
possible.
- Support Spanish-speaking children
and their families with bilingual/bicultural staff.
- Introduce Hispanic culture
and language to those who are English-speaking.

| La Fiesta I
(ages 1 to 3) |
| La Fiesta I
offers convenient, beneficial, and educationally oriented childcare
services for your children. La Fiesta provides a safe, non-threatening
and healthy environment to meet the social-emotional, physical, and
intellectual needs of your child/children.
A bilingual/bicultural environment supports
Spanish-speaking children and their families while introducing the culture
and language to those who are English-speaking. Our experienced bilingual
staff offers supervision and guidance with the help of the Foster Grandparent
program and other volunteers that support the staff. |
| Families
and Centers Empowered Together (FACET) is an additional support
program for families of La Fiesta I. FACET is designed to strengthen
and empower families through educational activities, family fun events,
and other support services for multiple-risk families with preschool
age children attending childcare centers in high-risk neighborhoods.
This convenient and non-threatening environment
encourages families to take advantage of useful support services (i.e.
parenting classes, counseling) without feeling the stigma normally associated
with being a social services recipient. The families, working together
with a FACET Coordinator in Parent Council, choose specific activities
and services. This hands-on involvement increases parents' sense of
investment in and control over the program. |

All EDC programs offer
a mix of the following benefits: |
Extended
Wrap Around Services
This supplementary program provides extended care for working families
who need full day care. The curriculum spills over into the wrap around
room where the children have an opportunity to extend learning and increase
skills in all areas
|
Family
Partnership Agreement and Referral Services
The Family Partnership Agreement is designed to establish mutual
trust between the families and the Family Services Coordinator.
Families identify their strengths, weaknesses, and needs, and work with
the coordinator to establish goals for themselves and their children
and connect with appropriate resources.
|
Creative Curriculum
This curriculum is focused on the individual development within the
context of the family, the community and its unique culture. Interest/learning
areas and motivational activities develop important foundations for
future success in school.
|
Developmental Assessments
To support the Creative Curriculum, the teachers complete assessments
on all children in the areas of Social/Emotional, Physical, Cognitive
and Intellectual Development at least two times per school year. This
helps us to individualize the program to help your child reach his/her
potential.
|
Individual Education
Plans (IEP)
IEPs for the child are developed and implemented with assistance from
our community partners.
|
Policy Council /
Parent Committee
Policy Council assists the Parent committee in planning, coordinating,
and organizing program activities for parents, with the assistance of
staff. Parent Committee plans, conducts, and participates in programs
and activities.
|
Parent-Teacher Conferences
& Home Visits
These meetings help to develop a positive relationship and allow the
parents and staff to get to know each other to support the growth of
the children.
