LACC Summer Camp

Since 1992, the LACC has proudly operated a state-licensed Summer Camp, dedicated to serving children from low-income working families. Our camp, which ran for ten weeks in 2023, welcomed 142 children aged 5 to 12, ensuring their summer days were both fun and educational. Operating Monday through Friday from 6:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., we strive to bridge the educational gap often experienced during the summer months.

Recognizing the critical role of high-quality summer learning, our camp features an array of programs designed to foster academic growth. This is particularly vital for children from low-income families who may lack access to educational resources. Our enriching activities include a STEM partnership with the University of Delaware, our engaging Book Nook Literacy program, Summer Collab Reading Buddies, the Nemours Brightstar! Early Literacy program, and a hands-on curriculum that focuses on reading, math, and STEM, aligning with Common Core Standards.

Beyond academics, our students enjoy field trips to parks and museums, participate in various sports, and every child learns to swim. With studies showing that 50% of learning loss occurs over the summer, LACC is committed to ensuring that learning continues year-round. Join us in making a difference in the lives of children, helping them to not only retain knowledge but also to explore new horizons and unlock their full potential.
